How delighted I am to have found this collection! Nicholas J. Rotondo was the best writer I ever read, bar none, and I'm a voracious reader. I encountered his first-person essays by chance in The Sacramensan. He inevitably made me laugh or brush away a tear each month. He was a man I learned to admire and would have liked to have known.It was a great loss to Mensa as well as his family and friends when he passed away. Clearly, he touched many lives through his heartfelt writing. Few stories I read in the Sacramensan were directly related to obstetrics so I know his family is sitting on a treasure trove deserving of more fans. Meanwhile, devoted readers can Google his memorial website where several more stories can be found.

As a nursing student I can't thank Dr. Toronto enough for restoring faith that not all doctors are frigid and distant!
This is one of those books that you will either like or hate. I liked. Good stories and made me laugh.
This book will make you laugh, cry and thank God for putting people like Nicholas Rotondo on earth to look after mothers, babies and anyone in between whom he cared for. So interesting, funny and touching.
I have an interest in childbirth so I was eager to read this obgyn's memoir. Great stories and wonderful advice given at the end. Dr Rotondo sounds like an excellent doctor and I'm so glad to have peeked into his 30-year practice.
Dr. Rotondo reveals the fear, embarrassment and humanity behind the necessary stoicism of an ob-gyn doctor. This book is written so that it is a comfortable read, and you feel like your best friend is confiding in you. I will never look at my own doctors the same again. Whether that's a good thing or not remains to be seen.
This was an intense look into one doctor's view on some of his experiences in his profession. He imparts a view of medicine that few people ever hear from their doctors. He uses humor to convey his points and demonstrates the hardships of losing patients. Very moving and hard to put down. I finished it one day!
I mostly read fiction but this book had me coming back for more. I read parts to other family members. Some parts had me in tears and others left me gasping for breath I was laughing so hard. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, especially to other women. It gives you a new perspective on the kind of doctor you want to have caring for you.
